Pratul Joshi was born and brought up in Lucknow. He studied at The La Martiniere College in Lucknow and has also trained at the Indian Military Academy, Dehradun.

Pratul picked up the camera while he was managing the family business. His passion for photography grew in time and he finally closed the family business in 1999 and moved to Mumbai to pursue a full-time career in photography.

In Mumbai he started working under Ashok Salian, acclaimed fashion and celebrity photographer. During this apprenticeship of three years, Pratul forged his proficiency of light and technique.

His images have appeared in Images FNL, New Woman, The Ideal Home & Garden, Smart Photography, Car India, Bike India and FHM India. Celebrities Pratul has shot include Gul Panang, Ishaa Koppikar, Yana Gupta, Anita Dongre, Dilip Chhabria, Piyush Pande and Rahul Bose amongst others. Some of his advertising clients include AND, Anita Dongre, Lawman, Cambridge, Real Global Broadcasting, Ma Passion and Nicholas Piramal.

Between editorial and advertising shoots, Pratul is currently devoting time to a personal fine art project.
